JEE

Know this exam before you sit it

Who it's for

Class 12 (or equivalent) students from the Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, aiming for undergraduate engineering seats — JEE Main leads to NITs/IIITs/GFTIs, and a JEE Main qualifying score is also the entry point to attempt JEE Advanced for the IITs.

Exam pattern

  • Objective MCQs plus numerical-value questions
  • Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics — equally weighted
  • Negative marking on MCQs; calculators not permitted

Before exam day

  • Admit card + a valid original photo ID, every attempt
  • Confirm your center location a day ahead
  • Practice mental/on-paper calculation — no calculator in the hall
⚠️

We deliberately don't publish applicant counts or cutoff ranks here. Both swing sharply every year by category, institute, branch, and counselling round — a number quoted today is likely wrong by the time you sit the exam. For current figures, go straight to the exam's own conducting body (NTA for JEE/NEET, UPSC for civil services, IBPS/SBI for banking, SSC, your regional RRB for Railway, or your state's Public Service Commission) — that's the only source that won't mislead you.
