State PSC

Know this exam before you sit it

Who it's for

Graduates meeting their state's specific age and eligibility rules, aiming for state civil services administered by that state's Public Service Commission — each state runs its own exam with its own syllabus and calendar.

Exam pattern

  • Broadly mirrors UPSC: Prelims → Mains → Interview
  • General Studies plus state-specific history, geography, and current affairs
  • Exact structure and language options vary by state — always confirm with your state PSC

Before exam day

  • Don't assume UPSC prep fully covers you — state-specific portions need dedicated study
  • Track your own state PSC's notification calendar directly; it doesn't follow UPSC's
  • Regional-language paper options, where offered, are worth deciding on early
⚠️

We deliberately don't publish applicant counts or cutoff ranks here. Both swing sharply every year by category, institute, branch, and counselling round — a number quoted today is likely wrong by the time you sit the exam. For current figures, go straight to the exam's own conducting body (NTA for JEE/NEET, UPSC for civil services, IBPS/SBI for banking, SSC, your regional RRB for Railway, or your state's Public Service Commission) — that's the only source that won't mislead you.
